LGV/HGV Driver Apprenticeship – Transportation Associate Program Location: This is a cluster based role and will include travel around a node of buildings Salary: Competitive Are you ready to take the wheel of your career? Amazon Apprenticeships is launching a new scheme in the UK called the Transportation Associate Program. We’re seeking motivated individuals to join our dynamic team as apprentice Large Goods Vehicle (LGV)/Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Drivers! Program Overview: This 14-month apprenticeship program, starting in May 2025, will train you to become a qualified HGV driver. You’ll learn to safely operate heavy goods vehicles, perform trailer moves in Amazon yards and on public roads across multiple site types. Apprentices will operate scheduled shifts and be home at the end of every shift (no long-haul multi-day trips). Key job responsibilities Key Responsibilities and Learnings: • Drive safely and efficiently, operating vehicles with a Gross Combined Weight over 7500kg, including Articulated and Draw Bar vehicles • Adhere to company rules, regulations, and tachograph law, prioritizing safety at all times • Plan and follow efficient routes, considering vehicle characteristics and predetermined routes • Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and when handling queries • Collaborate with transport managers and loaders to ensure correct load management • Perform vehicle safety checks, maintain cleanliness of the cab and load area • Comply with fuel efficiency directives and professional driver regulations • Report accidents and complete necessary documentation • Attend essential continuation training to stay updated on industry changes • Operate HGVs in yards and over public roads as required • Refuel vehicles and complete driver vehicle inspection reports • Work flexibly across locations within a geographic area to support the business Program Structure: • Classroom training and workshops hosted offsite • Amazon’s on-the-job training program, delivered by specialist transportation team • Mentorship from Amazon’s in-house HGV drivers and team leaders Eligibility Requirements: • Be 18 years or older by May 2025 • UK national, non-UK national with the right to work in the UK, or EU national with settled status • Lived in the UK, EEA, or British overseas territory for 3+ years prior to April 2025 • Resident in the UK for the entire duration of the program • Not registered for a UK government-funded course ending March 2025 or later • 2 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English (For non-UK qualifications, a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC is required) What We Offer: • Competitive salary • Comprehensive training and development opportunities • Supportive work environment • Opportunity to work with a range of clients across various sectors Join our team and drive your career forward in a rewarding and dynamic industry. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Basic Qualifications: • Active Class B Driver’s License • Ability to obtain a HGV Driver’s license category C+E • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or ability to obtain one • Strong understanding of road safety and traffic regulations • Excellent customer service skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Work Requirements: • 40 hours/week, with overtime as required • Flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays • As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must undergo and pass a comprehensive medical check prior to the start date. Following the medical check forms D2/D4 must be sent to DVLA awaiting the decision on Provisional C+E license entitlements. Candidates will be asked to provide the new driving license share code before the apprenticeship start date PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS These will be a plus for your career at Amazon but are not necessary to enter the program. • You have 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), including Maths, English and a Science/Technology subject.
